Heinrich Spemann

born 1873

He made his debut in 1897 as a baritone, and sang in Mainz and Detmold for one season each. Then he pause his career for one year, restudied as a tenor, and came back in 1900 in Sondershausen; he spent the next season in Stettin and was then much-beloved in Darmstadt from 1902 to 1910.

Not very much later, he married aristocrat Elsa Schilling, which may have had to do with his early withdrawal from stage.

During his short career, he made a lot of guest appearances: in Stuttgart, Munich, Hamburg, Dresden, Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Braunschweig, Frankfurt, Cologne, Bremen, Zürich or Basel. Most important roles: Florestan, Max, Erik, Lohengrin, Loge, Siegmund, Siegfried, Tannhäuser, Tristan, Stolzing, Pedro, Don José, Fra Diavolo, Turiddu, Canio.
