Jerome Lo Monaco
1925 – 16 January 2002 New York City

In RA format
Jerome Lo Monaco (Jerry for his friends) started singing at the semi-professional Amato Opera in
New York City in the 1950s (together with his brother Thomas and with Kenneth
Lane). Subsequently, he made a career in the USA, including even the New York
City Opera and the San Francisco Opera. A great favorite among the rather numerous NYC community of wanna-be opera experts
(cf. above: Lane, Thomas Lo
Monaco, but particularly also Charles Handelman), he was also a much-beloved voice teacher. Of course it's evident that,
while his natural voice was quite pleasing, his technique left a whole lot to be desired.
