Schweback as Arnold in Guillaume Tell

Barthold Schweback singsIl trovatore: Di quella pira, in Swedish
He made his debut at the Eldoradoteatern in Oslo in 1898 as an operetta tenor. Swedish impresario Alfred Ranft brought him to Stockholm in either 1901 or 1903, depending on sources. In 1905, he made his debut at the Royal Opera Stockholm as Tonio in La fille du régiment. From 1906 to 1908, and again from 1912 to 1921, he was a member of that theater, specializing in Verdi and Wagner. In between, from 1908 to 1911, he was at the Oscarsteatern (Stockholm, as well).

He later taught voice in Berlin and Malmö.
