Elvin Ottoson

14 April 1880 Copenhagen – 22 November 1950 Stockholm

Ottoson as Don Cesar in Dellinger's operetta
A bank clerk, he studied voice in both Copenhagen and Stockholm (with Sven Nyblom, among others), and made his debut as an operetta tenor at the Frederiksbergs Teater in Copenhagen in 1908.

The same year, he moved to Sweden for good, as an operetta tenor, stage director, theater manager and film actor. He sang at various theaters in Stockholm, Malmö, Göteborg and Jönköping, notably at the Oscarsteatern in Stockholm (1913–26 and 1933–35). He made 22 films from 1913 to 1950.

He sang relatively few "classic" operetta roles; his specialty were the latest works of the 1920s and 1930s.
