He studied voice in Parma and Milano, won a singing competition in Reggio Emilia in 1958 and
made his debut at the Teatro Nuovo in Milano in 1960, as the title character in L'amico Fritz. He spent his career at the
large Italian theaters: La Scala, Rome, Venice, Naples, Florence, Bologna, Palermo, Torino, Arena di Verona... Abroad, he made
guest appearances in Hamburg, Amsterdam and Orange.
He specialized in contemporary Italian opera, and also sang Foresto, Riccardo, Duca or Turiddu.
