Julian Prégardien

born 12 July 1984 Frankfurt

Julian Prégardien singsWidmung (Schumann)

He studied voice in Freiburg until 2009, but made his debut already prior to finishing his studies. Primarily a lied interpreter, he also sings a lot of oratorios, and irregularly also opera – primarily baroque opera (Munich, both at the Prinzregententheater and the Staatsoper; Theater an der Wien in Vienna, Aix-en-Provence, Monte Carlo, Bremen, Bilbao). From 2009 to 2013, he was a member of the Frankfurt opera theater, singing comprimario parts plus Tamino.

He is the son of Christoph Prégardien; though he clearly outdoes his father, his mannered intonation and uneasy top are still not my cup of tea.
