Burkhard Fritz

Born 1970 in Hamburg, Burkhard Fritz started his career in Bremerhaven and Gelsenkirchen. Instead of staying there and doing no further harm, he became a member of the Berlin State Opera (2004–10), and made an international career besides and after that: Bayreuth and Salzburg festivals, Vienna State Opera, Met, Chicago, Munich, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Madrid... all this in the heroic repertory: Florestan, Hüon, Bacchus, Kaiser, Alvaro, Paul (Die tote Stadt, a really demanding part!), Tannhäuser, Lohengrin, Stolzing, Parsifal, Grigorij and so forth. We're living in sorry times indeed.

As far as this recording, I'm tempted to upload the same selection by Bonisolli to demonstrate how it is really done.
