Jean Buysson

Picture of Jean Buysson as Cavaradossi
Buysson was born in Amsterdam on 21 April 1870, as Jonathan (Anton) Buys.

Buysson is mentioned in 1894 as being in Paris where he married Amélie Torres, an opera singer.

Buysson started his career in Liège (Roméo et Juliette, 1 April 1900; Lakmé, 4 April 1900; La bohème, 8 April 1900), which may be the reason that he was often thought to be Belgian.

From 1906 to 1914 he sang in Munich, in 1909/1910 in Vienna.

He died in Paris in 1945.

Jean Buysson and his wife made records in 1908 in Berlin. Madame Buysson-Torres the following two sides:

12226u Traviata: Von der Freude Blumenkränzen 2-43060
