Martin Vantin

born 14 May 1919 Nürnberg

He studied voice before WWII, but then he was drafted and had to delay his debut; he made it 1945 with a touring company in Nürnberg. Subsequently at the Munich Volksoper, in Ulm, Kassel, Wuppertal and from 1955 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he stayed for good. Comprimario, praised for his acting abilities. Guest appearances at the Salzburg and Bregenz festivals, in Brussels, Paris, Madrid and Florence.

He was still alive and well on his 102nd birthday in 2021!
