Born 1961 in Halle an der Saale (presumably, his parents were putting friendship among socialist nations into practice in the GDR). He studied voice in Minsk with Slava Polozov, and in Vilnius with Virgilijus Noreika.

Starting in 1986, he sang opera, primarily in Vilnius, Kaunas, Riga and Augsburg, but with guest appearances at the Bolshoj, the Colón in Buenos Aires, the Champs-Élysées, in Warsaw, Malmö or Bologna. He sang roles like Lenskij, Almaviva, Oedipus, Alfredo or Faust. Primarily, though, he was a concert tenor, singing plenty of masses, passions and oratorios.
